SELR tries to never turn away a llama or alpaca, and it is our intention that such an event doesn't occur. We have been able to successfully rescue thousands of animals in need since our inception, thanks to all the dedicated people who volunteer their time and effort to help transport, temporarily house, and ultimately place camelids surrendered to our organization into their forever homes.
The need is ongoing. The issue is not limited to animals that are abandoned or abused. Numbers of llamas and alpacas that are much loved and well cared for are affected when owners can no longer care for them due to unforeseen changes in life circumstances. Often these beloved animals are older, have health issues, or there is no time for a lengthy sale process - the animals need to be relocated on a relatively immediate basis.
In order to provide support where possible, we need your help. The burdens associated with vet care, feed, transport costs and associated supplies are significant. In an effort to underwrite ongoing expenses, we launched multiple fundraising campaigns throughout the year in hopes of creating a recurrent revenue stream that can be used to maintain and expand our mission.

We would love to have you on our team! Become a coordinator, transporter, mentor, social media manager, or simply volunteer on a farm near you!
Our team is always in need of quality halters, leads, nail trimmers, educational materials, shears, feed, hay, panels, trailers, and other farm equipment. Clean out your barn and put the items you aren't using to good use!
When you foster animals under SELR's care, you agree to provide day-to-day care for animals that might otherwise not have it. A little tender loving care goes a long way to improving lives!
